Leader - EasyTango

Definition

This is the one in the couple that will lead (take la marca).

In the most classical set-up (man-woman), this will be the man. With same-sex couples, one of the two will take this role.

The leader will decide on figures and steps, while taken into account

• his own skill
• the skill of the follower
• the fitness of both partners (is this the 1st dance, or has one of both been dancing for hours)
• the environment: a crowded floor calls for smaller steps, more modest figures and fast reaction (with e.g. cunitas and sacadas) to other people blocking the way
